D-Dimer Test
The D-Dimer Test measures the level of D-dimer, a protein fragment produced when a blood clot dissolves in the body. High levels may indicate the presence of abnormal clotting activity, which can occur in conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), or disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).

Why This Test is Done:

• Help rule out serious blood clot-related conditions

• Assess unexplained swelling, pain, or difficulty breathing

• Monitor clotting disorders during treatment

How It Works:
A blood sample is analyzed to measure D-dimer levels. While elevated levels suggest abnormal clot formation and breakdown, further testing is often needed to confirm the cause.
