Description
Typhidot IgM Test
The Typhidot IgM Test is a blood test used to detect IgM antibodies against Salmonella typhi, the bacteria responsible for typhoid fever. The presence of IgM antibodies usually indicates a recent or current infection.
Why This Test is Done:
-
Detect early or active typhoid fever
-
Differentiate between current and past infection (when combined with IgG testing)
-
Support diagnosis in patients with fever, abdominal pain, or other typhoid symptoms
How It Works:
A blood sample is collected and tested for IgM antibodies. IgM appears early in the infection, usually within the first week of symptoms.
Sample Requirement: Blood sample
Reporting Time: Same day
Often recommended alongside Typhidot IgG for a complete typhoid diagnosis.
