The COVID-19 Test is used to detect active infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19. Early and accurate testing helps prevent the spread of the virus and ensures timely medical care.

Why This Test is Done:

• Identify current COVID-19 infection in symptomatic or asymptomatic individuals

• Confirm infection after exposure to a COVID-positive person

• Meet travel, hospital admission, or workplace screening requirements

Types of COVID-19 Tests:

• RT-PCR Test: Highly accurate, detects viral genetic material

• Rapid Antigen Test: Gives results quickly, detects viral proteins

Sample Requirement: Nasal or throat swab
Reporting Time:

• RT-PCR: 12–24 hours

• Rapid Antigen: 15–30 minutes
