Description
Typhidot IgG Test
The Typhidot IgG Test is a blood test used to detect IgG antibodies against Salmonella typhi, the bacteria that cause typhoid fever. The presence of IgG antibodies usually indicates a past infection or late-stage typhoid.
Why This Test is Done:
-
Detect previous exposure to Salmonella typhi
-
Support diagnosis of typhoid fever in later stages
-
Differentiate between past and current infections when combined with IgM testing
How It Works:
A blood sample is collected and tested for IgG antibodies. IgG appears later in infection and may remain in the blood for months or years after recovery.
Sample Requirement: Blood sample
Reporting Time: Same day
For accurate diagnosis of acute typhoid, this test is often done along with Typhidot IgM.
