Description
Whole Abdomen Ultrasound
The Whole Abdomen Ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging test that uses sound waves to create detailed images of organs in the abdominal area, including the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, bladder, and other structures. It helps doctors detect abnormalities, infections, stones, tumors, or organ enlargement.
Why This Test is Done:
-
Evaluate abdominal pain, swelling, or discomfort
-
Detect gallstones, kidney stones, or liver problems
-
Monitor known conditions affecting abdominal organs
-
Screen for tumors, cysts, or fluid accumulation
How It Works:
A handheld device called a transducer is moved over the abdomen with a gel applied to improve sound wave transmission. The images are displayed on a monitor for analysis.
Test Duration: 15–30 minutes
Reporting Time: Same day
Fasting for 6–8 hours before the scan may be required for best results.
